- Team Group has launched its P34F portable SSD of T-Create expert
- It has the monitoring of the location through the Find My Apple application and an alarm
- The P34F must go on sale very soon
If you have ever lost an external SSD or a USB stick, perhaps containing vital or even sensitive data, you will know that it can be a traumatic experience, and a new portable unit could end any anguish around hardware out of place.
Techpowerup reports that Team Group has officially launched the T-Create Expert P34F, which is a world first in terms of being a portable SSD that has a incorporated location monitoring.
The function works through the Find My Apple application, and the unit can be combined with Apple compatible devices for monitoring functionality, which means the best Mac, iPhones or iPads.
The P34F can be located using said Find My app, and the unit also has an internal speaker that allows it to sound an alarm that is audible within a range of 40 m.
The SSD comes in capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB and has an elegant design, which weighs 70 g with a size of 81 x 43 mm and a thickness of 16.5 mm. It has a metal finish and is made of a 73%zinc alloy, and offers transfer speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s for readings and 900 MB/s for deeds.
While Team Group says that the unit is now available, and the P34F is live on its website, it has not yet appeared in retailers, presumably that is about to happen. Nor do we have a confirmed price, but we do know that the SSD benefits from a three -year guarantee.
Analysis: Portability and Security
Note that only the follow -up capacity is linked to Apple’s ecosystem and, of course, you can use this portable SSD with other devices, including Windows PCs. It has a USB-C connector and admits USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt connectivity.
It is an intelligent idea to have this incorporated monitoring system, particularly in such a small unit. The P34F is smaller than a credit card, in fact, and with that type of diminutive hardware it is not difficult to accidentally place or leave the device somewhere.
At least if that happens, you have an opportunity to fight to recover this external SSD, particularly because it has that audible alarm to locate the unit when you know it is close. And that could be an absolute lifeguard if it stores confidential data in the P34F, it is not that it should store these data in anything that is portable and potentially easy to lose, of course, but people still do it.
