- The photos show a fictitious unit of iPhone 17 with an iPhone 16 Plus
- The air of the iPhone 17 looks much thinner than the iPhone 16 plus
- However, the Chamber of the Air stands out similarly
We hope that the iPhone 17 Air will be one of the thinnest phones of the year, perhaps even overcome the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, but a new apparent escape gives us a clear look of how thin it could be compared to one of Apple’s current phones.
Leaker Majin Bu (through Gsmarena) has shared photos of what is presumably a fictitious unit of iPhone 17 Air along with an iPhone 16 Plus. We say ‘presumably’ because they simply refer to it as an air of the iPhone 17, so it could be a prototype, but it is more likely to be a non -functional doll.
In any case, in these images it seems just over half of thickness than the iPhone 16 plus of 7.8 mm thick. Actually, it is probably a little more than that, with leaks that suggest that the iPhone 17 air has 5.65 mm thick, but it certainly seems extremely thin.

Chamber concerns
But while most of the phone is very thin, the unique lens camera stands out markedly from the top. In fact, it seems that the drill with the lens could be as thick as that section of the iPhone 16 Plus, which means that at its thickest point, the air of the iPhone 17 would not be much thinner than the current iPhones.
And because the rest of the body is so thin, that chamber blow is much more notable than in the iPhone 16 Plus, so that aspect of the design may not be ideal. Of course, there is the possibility that the phone design in these images is wrong, but aligns with previous images.
Even so, this problem is probably inevitable. According to reports, Apple is equipping the air of the iPhone 17 with a single rear camera to lose weight the phone, but in reality reducing the size of the lens and other camera components is probably not possible without a reduction in quality.
Therefore, the iPhone 17 air will probably be a very thin phone, as long as it ignores the thickest camera bar at the top.
