- A new Gemini space for pixels has been leaked
- Shows information such as sports scores and birthdays
- The characteristic is similar to some parts of an UI 8
The changes are arriving at the Widget at a glance that is found on the Pixel Start screen, according to the hidden code seen in the latest version of Android preview, and could evolve more as a couple of features in the Samsung One UI software.
Android Authority made the detection of the code, and the team was able to obtain something called Gemini space in operation on Android Canary (the first beta version of Android that can be obtained).
We have not yet heard anything official about Gemini Space, but seems to be based on a look, and is able to show more information: sports scores and birthday reminders, for example, as well as weather forecasts and details of calendar appointments. Part of this information can already be shown on Android through persistent notifications.
All these updates can be seen on the lock screen, as well as on the home screen, and it seems that users will also have the option to expand these cards in a daily center that offers relevant information throughout the day.
Does it sound familiar?
Show information contextually relevant on the home screen and the lock screen, including sports scores, timers and physical conditioning data, looks a lot like what Samsung is doing with the bar now and now brief in an UI 7 and an UI 8.
It seems that Google has seen what Samsung is doing, and wants to do the same. At the same time, it could also be argued that Samsung widgets were inspired by a look at the pixels and live activities in iOS.
We also know that a feature called Live currentates will arrive in Android 16, which will also put real -time information on the lock screen. In general, we are seeing improvements in how the relevant information for users appears, regardless of what brand and phone model you are using.
It is not clear when the new Gemini space could reach Pixel phones, but you can expect important updates for Android 16 as we advance in the rest of the year, including a broader deployment of the expressive redesign of material 3.
