Storm Pedro is expected to bring snow and more heavy rain to the UK this week as forecast, heralding the arrival of a new weather system.
The name Storm Pedro originated from Méteo France, France’s national meteorological service, where the storm is expected to have a major effect.
In addition, yellow weather warnings have already been forecast for today, Wednesday and tomorrow, in several parts of the country, with winter rain and icy conditions predicted.
According to the MET office, “There is a possibility of an area of rain and snow affecting parts of Wales, central England and the southern Pennines overnight on Wednesday and overnight into Thursday.”
The Met Office also forecast rain and snow conditions for Northern Ireland from 4am today, February 18, until 8pm on Wednesday night, February 19.
Forecasters warn that spells of rain, snow on the hills and gusty winds could cause some disruption for travelers.
There will be some spells of rain affecting southern England from Wednesday and Wednesday night into early Thursday morning; During this time some snowfall is also expected in the mountainous areas, mainly during Wednesday night.
After a period of wet and gray conditions, temperatures are expected to rise again towards the weekend, reaching up to 13 degrees Celsius in Exeter, according to the Met Office.
