The Minister N5 Pro enters the market as a storage unit attacked in Network (NAS), but entails more typical specifications of compact work station systems.
In its nucleus is the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 processor with 12 cores, 24 wires and an NPU on board capable of 50 tops.
Combined with the support of up to 96 GB of ECC DDR5 memory, the device approaches the performance of the work station while packaging in a compact form that remembers a mini PC.
Storage flexibility in compact compaction
The N5 Pro provides five SATA bays along with three NVME or U.2 slots, which supports up to 144 TB of mixed storage.
Unlike some devices that are based on shared ports, each SATA connection is direct, which improves consistency during transfers.
Expansion routes include a 4 × 16 and Oculink PCIe Gen slot, allowing the addition of GPUs or external drive cages.
This combination is rarely found in the best NAS devices, suggesting that Minister is aimed at users or homelab professionals.
The connectivity is equally ambitious, with dual Ethernet ports that offer 10GBE and 5GBE speeds.
The tests showed that these interfaces achieve sustained performance near their nominal capabilities, which makes the system suitable for demanding multiple or virtualization environments.
Two USB4 ports and an HDMI 2.1 output add more options, allowing high -speed direct links to portable desks or SSDs.
The system is sent with Miniscloud OS, preloaded in a small SSD. The platform is based on ZFS and includes snapshots, compression, management of raids, docker support and indexation of photos driven by AI.
This is functional, but its unfinished interface and its missing business characteristics limit their appeal compared to mature solutions such as thunder or Undaid.
The N5 Pro has been available since July, and has seen several adjustments since its initial launch.
Minister originally offered a 64 GB storage option, but has now been replaced with 128 GB units as a baseline.
The Barebone unit currently appears at $ 1,019, below $ 1,039, however, a preconfigured variant with 48 GB of ECC DDR5 memory is priced at $ 1,308, which reflects a minimum reduction of $ 3.
The high -end 96 GB variant has increased at cost, going from $ 1,583 to $ 1,597 for no reason declared.
