Eureka has presented the J15 Max Ultra, the first robot vacuum cleaner and mop capable of detecting and responding to transparent liquids on the floor.
It features an updated version of Eureka’s ‘IntelliView AI’ technology, which made its debut on the J15 Pro Ultra. This feature meant that when it encountered a wet spill, the robot would spin, raise its brush roll to prevent that part from getting wet, and prioritize mopping to deal with the spill. The only problem was that the ambient light caused the transparent liquids to confuse the robot’s vision sensors, but this is not the case with the updated version of the technology.
IntelliView AI 2.0 uses an infrared vision system and an FHD vision sensor to create two types of views simultaneously, in real time. It uses them to create a high-definition image of objects and their surface structures, which are not as affected by lighting variations. The robot then uses artificial intelligence algorithms to identify subtle differences in surface texture reflections and texture, which alert it to the presence of liquid on the floor, even if that liquid is transparent.

The Eureka J15 Max is one of several new and innovative robot vacuum cleaners set to be unveiled at CES 2025; Others include the Roborock Saros Z70 with its extendable mechanical clamp arm and the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete, which can be raised on stilts.
The Eureka J15 Max Ultra may not have extra limbs, but it still looks pretty impressive. Other innovations include a side brush and mop, both of which can automatically extend beyond the sides of the robot when they detect it is near the edge of a room. ‘ScrubExtend’ appears on the J15 Pro Ultra, but ‘SweepExtend’ is new on the J15 Max.
Similar features crop up several times among the best robot vacuums on the market and are always a welcome addition because they mean the robot can deliver a more thorough clean, rather than leaving dusty or dirty edges.
Like many leading robot vacuum brands, Eureka has worked to improve the J15 Max Ultra’s ability to overcome high thresholds. It can apparently navigate standard thresholds up to 1.18 inches/3 cm, as well as being able to “handle” double-layer thresholds up to 1.57 inches/4 cm (we’re not clear how the approach differs for the standard versus double layer). thresholds).
Finally, the J15 Pro Ultra boasts 22,000 Pa of suction, which before CES 2025 would have been considered absolutely ridiculous (most high-end robots currently on the market can manage around half that). However, it has the same suction power as Roborock’s newer flagships, so perhaps it will be the new norm for premium robots.
The Eureka J15 Max Ultra is scheduled to go on sale in June. Eureka says it will eventually be available “globally,” but will arrive first in the United States, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
