Irobot simply discarded and replaced almost all its range of robot vacuum cleaners, but among the new bright fleet there is a model that has caught my particular attention: the Combo of Compactor of Broken Dust 205. This bot is specially designed for smaller houses, and as owner of such a compact house, I am particularly interested in having in my hands one.
The fact that I live everything in an apartment means that robot vacuners are, in some way, an excellent option for my home. The life of apartments often translates as “not much space”, and that is certainly the case for me. Many of today’s best robot vacuum cleaners come with giant docks that can do everything from emptying dust to filling water tanks to washing and drying the clumping pads. While they are certainly an experience very without a doubt, I lose half of my kitchen every time I try one.
The other option is a dock alone. These tend to be pleasant and small, but require that I take care of all maintenance, including the emptying of garbage. The containers that you will find aboard the robot vacuum cleaners are necessarily small, so if you have a lot of dust, you will do it irritating regularly. If trying one of these coincides that I have a canine visitor, the emptying of the garbage becomes a task; This is definitely not an ideal option if you are looking for the best pet robot vacuum cleaner.
The Irobot solution is to introduce dust that is compacted in the 205 Combo container, which can contain more dust and, therefore, requires a less frequent manual intervention. The dock is the basic, only loading small enough to fit discreet in almost any home, including mine.
Inside the small on -board container there is a palette that twists on the left and the right to crush any dust and debris that has been absorbed in a smaller space. The palette then returns to the center of the main entrance, ready for the next land influx.
Combo 205 is designed to last up to 60 days without emptying, although that will depend on the amount of dirt and dust that you are absorbing, of course.
Irobot says that its compacting technology is an ‘first industry’. Another model in the market, the Narwal Forum X Plus, does something similar, although I suppose I could not use the same mechanism.
Lower
Another remarkable feature here is that Irobot has eliminated the navigation disk from the top of the DustCompactor Roomba 205 combo, which makes it superficial enough to sneak under the furniture that could otherwise have been out of the limits. Perhaps Irobot decided that people with small houses must also have low furniture; I don’t know.
This is particularly interesting because this robovac uses Lidar for navigation. In fact, the introduction of Lidar ‘Clearview’ navigation is one of the best updates that appear in the new Roomba range.
Previously, the brand used an older form of robot vacuum navigation, which was much slower, less reliable and unable to operate in the dark.
Irobot says that Lidar technology has simply changed to the front of the 205 dustcompactor model to give it a more aerodynamic silhouette. The point is that the robots used by lidar need that high album to be able to “see” a wide and pleasant area around them. The three new roombs have one.
I asked an Irobot representative about this, who explained that although 205 would have a narrower field of vision, this would not affect the accuracy of navigation for most people. She assured me that she was testing two of the new Roomba Bots, one with the album and one without, and both behaved in the same way.
If that is true, this could be the perfect robot vacuum for me. We have a 205 Roomba Dustcompactor on the way and inform as soon as we have had the opportunity to test it.
The compactor Dust Roomba 205 must go on sale as of March 18, with a list price of $ 469 / € 449 (around £ 380 / AU $ 780).
