QUETTA:
A mortal attack pointed to a passenger coach who was traveling from Karachi to Quetta near Niemurgh Cross in the Kalat district, Baluchistan, leaving at least three dead passengers and seven injured, according to local police sources.
Confirming the incident, the Baluchistan government spokesman Shahid Rind, declared that the injured had been transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters (DHQ) in Kalat. He also confirmed that the security forces arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports from the attack and secured the area.
“The injured are provided with medical assistance in DHQ Kalat. Security personnel are present in the place, and the investigations are underway,” Rind said in a statement.
The attack occurred when unidentified armed men opened direct fire to the coach in motion. Police and rescue teams responded quickly, transporting the victims to the hospital and launching search operations in the surrounding area.
While the reason behind the assault is still clear, the authorities have initiated a complete investigation. Incidents of violence along the Karachi -quetta road continue to raise concerns about the safety of passengers, particularly in Baluchistan’s sensitive districts.
