Abbottabad:
A road accident near Lady Garden, Abbottabad, took the lives of three schoolchildren and left five other wounded critically when a Dumper truck ran over a group of students from the school of the Acantonation Board when they crossed the early road on Friday morning.
According to initial reports, the deceased were identified as a 10 -year -old Rehan, 14 -year -old Manal and Sawab, 13. The injured students included Urooba, 5, Sawra, 13, Yashfa, 15, and Ehtesham, 11. All victims belonged to Banda Phugwariyan, a suburban town of Abbottabad.
Dumper’s driver, Mohsin Khan, fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, the police seized the truck (registration number TKM-060) and registered a case at the Acantonation Police station under sections 279, 337, 320 and 322 of the Pakistan Criminal Code. The raids are underway to arrest the escutation driver.
The 1122 rescue teams transferred the deceased and injured the Abbottabad DHQ hospital, where doctors described the condition of injured children as critics.
The sources confirmed that all victims belonged to the same extended family. Funeral prayers were offered for those who died in Phygwariyan Band, which was attended by a large number of mourners.
The members of the family and local residents blamed the tragedy for the negligence of the Transit Police, claiming that despite the fact that dozens of guards deployed along the 7 -kilometer silk route within the city, heavy vehicles are often allowed to pass during the restricted hours. Ocular witnesses at the protest site also alleged that the guardians are more focused on issuing Challans, informing informing 30% participation in collections, than in traffic regulation to avoid such incidents.
SSP traffic Qamar Hayat Khan confirmed that trucks are prohibited from entering the city between 7 am and 9 am, asking questions about how the Dumper won access during restricted hours. Dpo Abbottabad Umar Tafail (PSP) took an immediate notice, ordering a strict legal action against the driver and the seizure of the vehicle.
