Police and a local militia neutralized three alleged terrorists during a “search and strike” operation carried out in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lakki Marwat district (KP) on Saturday. Several terrorists also suffered injuries during the operation.
According to a statement issued to the press on Sunday by the Office of the General Police of the Inspector of KP (IGP), the Local Police went into action after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Tajwari area of the district.
He said that the Local Police, the contingents of the Department of Terrorism Control (CTD), as well as the special rapid response force, began a search operation in which the members of a “AMAN committee” and the residents of the area also participated.
“During the operation, the law enforcement agencies [and their local supporters] I had a meeting with 20 to 25 terrorists at 10:45 am in the Khankhel Manderzai forest, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Tajwari and Barandai police station.
“In the posterior shooting in which both parties used heavy weapons and continued for about 2 hours, the police, bravely fighting, sent three terrorists to hell without suffering any loss. Several terrorists also received wounds and then fled.”
The statement said a search operation continued in search of terrorists.
According to the police officer of the district of Lakki Marwat (DPO), Jawwad Ishaq, who directed the operation, the people of the area demonstrated exceptional courage and patriotism by being shoulders with his police, which increases his morals.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the courage and value of the Lakki Marwat police and announced cash rewards and recommendation certificates for the personnel involved in the operation.
