Three newborns die while floods block access to the hospital in Gujranwala

Gujranwala:

In a heartbreaking incident, three newborns died on Sunday in the Sohdra village, affected by floods, Gujranwala, after his mother could not reach a hospital due to road closures caused by strong floods.

The woman, who expected Trillizos, put in childbirth and could not be taken to any medical center since the waters of the floods had cut the access routes. She gave her first baby at home, but soon complications arose.

In an attempt to save the mother and the children, the family organized a boat to transfer it to the hospital. However, while it was driven in a car to the boat, he gave birth to two more babies.

The three newborns, two girls and a boy died due to the lack of timely medical assistance. Devastated by the tragedy, the mother lamented: “The roads opened for everyone else, but not for us.”

Unfortunately, this is not the first case in the country where a pregnant woman did not get timely medical attention. In the past, similar tragedies have been informed when women could not reach hospitals due to road closures caused by the VIP movement or other reasons.

In November 2022, a woman lost her newborn after giving birth on her way to a hospital in the Superior Dir of Dir, just surviving herself.

In August 2021, another woman gave birth to a girl inside an ambulance while she was transferred to a hospital near Shah Maqsood’s exchange of the Hazara highway.
