In another incident last week, at least six people were killed when unidentified armed assailants opened fire in Dastak area of Panjgur district, about 60 kilometers from Panjgur town. The attackers also set fire to two vehicles before fleeing. Police teams launched a search operation, but the motive was unclear and no group immediately claimed responsibility.

Balochistan has faced a persistent insurgency for years, with security forces frequently attacked by militants linked to banned groups such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army. The government describes Indian-backed terrorist groups as “Fitna al-Hindustan”, while TTP-affiliated terrorists are called “Fitna al-Khawarij”.

Authorities said intelligence-based operations have been stepped up across the province in recent months to prevent attacks on security facilities and civilians, amid continued concerns about the volatile security environment.
