Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that his mother, Kultida, died. She was 78 years old.
The legendary golfer of PGA Tour made the announcement in the position in X. He attached a statement and a photo of her in the position. He asked for privacy while he and his family regretted.

“With the sincere sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, died early this morning,” Woods wrote. “My mother was a force of our own nature, her spirit was simply undeniable. It was fast with the needle and a laugh. He was my greatest fan, greatest supporter, without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible. He was loved by many , but especially for their two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.
“Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. I love you mom.”

Tiger was the only child of Kultida and Earl Woods together. Tiger has some media brothers in his father’s first marriage. Kultida met Earl while he was on the army in Thailand. She was of Thai, China and Dutch ancestry.
Kultida and Earl moved to Brooklyn, New York, after marrying, and then Cypress, California, where Tiger was born.
ESPN said Tiger, whose real name is Eldrick, bears the name of his mother and father. The name Eldrick began with an E, in honor of Earl, and ended with a K, in honor of Kultida.

He was nicknamed Tiger after Earl’s lost comrade in Vietnam, Tiger Phong. The name stayed throughout his life.
