Tiger Woods will play in Invitational Genesis, marking the return to competition for the first time from the British Open


For the first time from the British Open in July, Tiger Woods is back in action in a golf course.

Woods, 49, pledged on Friday to play 18 holes in invitational genesis in Torrey Pines.

It will be the first time that Woods will compete since he had a microdisctomy in September to relieve leg pain. It was the sixth surgery that has subjected to its low back.

Normally, invitational genesis is in the Riviera Country Club, but the tournament moved to Torrey Pins due to forest fires that devastated the Los Angeles community.

Torrey Pines is the course where Woods ended for the last time at the Top 10 at a PGA Tour event, when I was in a draw for ninth place in Farmers Insurance Open in 2020.

There is no cut in invitational genesis, which means that Woods will walk during the four days regardless of their performance.

The last time Woods played four rounds was in the Masters last year, when he broke the tournament record for most of the cuts made in the prestigious major with his 24th consecutive court made.
