Timely and effective justice a moral responsibility: CJP

The Justice of the Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, observed on Thursday that timely and effective justice is not only a constitutional mandate but also a moral responsibility.

The president of the Supreme Court presided over the sixth interactive progress review session in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The session brought together senior officials, stakeholders and officials of the Supreme Court to evaluate monthly progress under the Reform Action Plan (RAP) and provide strategic guidance on pending initiatives and future milestones.

The meeting attended the Supreme Court of the Registrar, IT advisor Hamayun Zafar, Supreme Court section directors, the senior director of the Federal Judicial Academy and the Secretary of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP).

During the deliberations, the president of the Supreme Court was informed about the substantial advances achieved in the Court Reform Agenda. Of 89 identified initiatives, 30 have been completely implemented, 44 are in progress and 14 will begin shortly. These milestones underline the commitment of the Judiciary to modernize its institutional framework and strengthen the provision of services for the public.

The president of the Supreme Court also reviewed the statistics on the elimination of cases, the categorization of cases, the integration of IT, the financial management and the audit mechanisms. He expressed satisfaction that the case elimination rate has exceeded the new case institution, emphasizing that audit and financial discipline are essential to guarantee transparency. He directed all departments that accelerate pending tasks before the next review meeting, emphasizing that sustained progress is crucial to maintain public confidence in the Judiciary.

Reaffirming the dedication of the Supreme Court to a focus focused on the litigants, the president of the Supreme Court observed that timely and effective justice is not only a constitutional mandate but also a moral responsibility.

He also praised the contributions of officers and technical experts. He reiterated the resolution of the Judiciary to promote innovation, inclusion and collaboration in the construction of a justice system that is transparent, modern and equitable.
