Timothée Chalamet’s final run of awards season gained new momentum Sunday night when One battle after another emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 46th annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards in London.
The film earned the prestigious honor of Movie of the Year, capping a great night that also saw Paul Thomas Anderson recognized as Director of the Year and Screenwriter of the Year.
Sean Penn contributed to the film’s success by winning the award for best supporting actor, further cementing his dominance at the ceremony.
Chalamet, who was in the British capital over the weekend to participate in the Q&A sessions of marty supremeHe was named Actor of the Year.
It marked a return to the top for the actor, who last won the same honor in 2018 for call me by your name.
The timing made the win especially appropriate, as it balanced recognition of the award with promotion of his latest work.
On the acting front, Jessie Buckley won Actress of the Year for her performance in Hamnet, while Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Guns.
Elsewhere, Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters also gained recognition, earning what was described as one of its few major honors in the UK, despite not being eligible for the BAFTAs.
The evening also included special professional honors.
Cynthia Erivo received the Derek Malcolm Award for Innovation, celebrating her extensive work on films including widows, harriet, Bad times at El Royale and the Wicked cinema.
Guillermo del Toro received the Dilys Powell Award for Cinematographic Excellence, recognizing his lasting impact on cinema.
The London Critics Circle Film Awards are voted for by the 207 members of the Critics Circle Film Section, the UK’s oldest and most respected critics’ organisation, adding extra weight to the accolades handed out.
