Tony Romo’s television career has been more of a roller coaster.
At first, Romo seemed to have a crystal ball in the booth next to Jim Nantz, calling plays before the public saw them.
However, things seemed to hit a wall and it was reported that CBS was concerned that Romo had lost his style and that his relationship with Nantz had suffered.

Romo has called three full seasons of football since then and his current contract expires after the 2030 season.
Depending on who you ask, Romo is as polarizing now as he was when he was quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, and in an appearance on the Pat McAfee show, he responded to the criticism.
“You’re doing the best you can, and you have to be yourself and everything. You’re doing the best you can, and it’s not like you’re never doing your best to be great at something. But then you look at it and it’s like, noise is noise. It’s part of being in this job,” he said. “For me, it’s up, it’s down. But at the end of the day, you don’t really hear things.”
Romo, on the other hand, likes to hear positive comments.
“All the fans come up to me and tell me they love us and everything, that’s how I feel. As far as watching things online, it’s just part of the process. But I don’t think it really changes things,” he continued.

“If everyone likes me, they’re watching, so there’s got to be something there. But we’re also commenting on their teams that are winning and losing. ‘I don’t like someone who’s not fully supporting my team.’ So there’s a balance that you try. I support both teams. I support the guys who love the sport, care deeply, and want to win. I want them to care as much as I do. And those are the guys you root for a little bit, and sometimes that’s perceived a certain way, but I love it. It’s a great job.”
Romo recently received criticism for his colorful comments during the playoff matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills earlier this month.
