Top Court puts the bail of Imran in the file

Islamabad:

The Supreme Court has scheduled for August 12 the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) the bail requests of President Imran Khan in cases related to the disturbances of May 9.

A three -members bank, headed by the president of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, will assume the case.

The Apex Court had previously deferred the hearing of the request of the former private private in eight cases of May 9 until August 12, without issuing notices as requested by its lawyer.

In November 2024, an anti -terrorism court of Lahore refused to grant Imran bail in cases linked to the disturbances of May 9, 2023, which included an attack against the residence of the commander of Lahore’s body.

On June 24 he dismissed his challenge after that decision on June 24.

The former prime minister approached the Apex court to dispute the rejection of the LHC of his bail supplications. The appeal, presented by the main lawyer Salman Safdar, argued that Imran had been accused of “conspiracy and inciting violence on May 9”.

He argued that at the time of the alleged incidents, Imran was under the custody of the National Responsibility Office, making its participation in the “impossible” disturbances.

The petition also claimed that the founder of PTI had faced an “unprecedented campaign of political victimization” since his removal of office two years before.

Challenging the verdict of the LHC, the petition said that the court had trusted “evidence designed and manufactured”, including “obsolete, discredited and delayed statements of police officers.”

Meanwhile, the Superior Court has constituted four banks for its Islamabad registration, two for the registration of Peshawar and two for the LaHore registration for the next judicial week.

The three -members bank, led by CJ Afridi and comprising Judge Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Judge Mian Gul Hassan Aurengzeb, will occupy the supplications of Imran’s bond on August 12.

The SC Registry Office has issued the list of causes for audiences in eight appeals and has sent notices to the legal team of the Founder of PTI Incarceado.
