The Philadelphia Eagles accepted the invitation of President Donald Trump to the White House to celebrate his 2025 Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City bosses despite the rumors otherwise.
The owner of the Eagles team, Jeffrey Lurie, addressed the decision to go to the White House years after a dispute between the players and the president about the protests of the national anthem led Trump to terminate an invitation.
“We feel that this is a traditional tradition invited by the White House,” Lurie said on Wednesday, through Pro Football Talk.

“Then, there was no reluctance at all. Being held in the White House is a good thing. There were special circumstances (in 2018) that were very different, so this was an obvious choice and I hoped eagerly …
“When you grow, and listen, ‘Oh, the championship team had to go to the White House’, that’s what it is.
Lurie added that it was “totally optional” that the players attended and that the acceptance of the invitation was not political.

The Eagles chief coach, Nick Sirianni, took a similar tone on Tuesday.
“I am really excited to go, yes. What honor. What honor to be able to go to the White House. The teams that have been able to win championships have been doing that for a long time, and I really feel honored to go and really excited to go,” he said, through Outkick.
Trump attended the Eagles dismantling the Chiefs, but did not stay throughout the game.

The Los Angeles and Buckeyes Dodgers of the State of Ohio are also scheduled to visit Trump.
