For the first time in the history of Punjab, the provincial government has launched a comprehensive training program for technical skills for the transgender community, said Express News on Friday.
The initiative aims to empower transgender people through vocational training in various fields such as you, independent work, tailoring, fashion design, electrical work, solar technology, beauty services, culinary arts and medical care assistance.
According to the first phase, 1,600 transgender people will receive training through the Punjab skills development fund.
The program is part of the vision of the economic dignity of Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, introduced under the slogan: “Transgeans will gain dignity, they will not beg.”
Maryam Nawaz condemned the abuse of transgender people, highlighting their marginalization due to social exclusion and lack of employment opportunities.
“This training will not only provide skills but also restore respect and legitimate status in society,” he said. “Talent has no gender.”
