The Trump administration is preparing to restructure the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and integrate Blockchain technology into its acquisition system, Wired reported, citing a memorandum that circulates among the state department staff.
The plan proposes the agency’s brand change as American international humanitarian assistance and move it directly under the authority of the Secretary of State, Wired said. I would take advantage of a block chain to trace help distributions and enforce payment models based on results instead of tickets.
“All distributions would also be ensured and tracked through blockchain technology to radically increase security, transparency and traceability,” according to reports, the Memo, and adds that said approach would foster innovation and efficiency.
It is not clear if the block chain would involve cryptocurrency or the use of stablecoin, or simply act as a major digital book.
USAID has been under the Trump administration scrutiny since the establishment of the Government Efficiency Department (Doge), directed by Elon Musk. Doge has proposed in the past the use of blockchain technology to increase efficiency. The president froze the USAID payments in an executive order on January 20.
