After previously referring to Wayne Gretzky as the “Governor of Canada,” President Donald Trump has declared a “free agent” to the NHL.
Justin Trudeau announced his plan to give up as the Prime Minister of Canada Earlier this year, which leads Trump to ask Gretzky if he wanted to be the country’s “governor” after Trump asked Canada to become the “State 51”.
However, Trump really said in Wednesday that his “friend” is “discreet ‘about Canada that remains a separate country, instead of becoming a state 51 appreciated and beautiful.”

So, “the great one” is now in the market.
“Wayne Gretzky is a fantastic guy! They call him, ‘El Gran’ and is. It could apply for any political office in Canada.
“Wayne and Janet, his wonderful wife, Love Canada, and should only support Canada, and anything else that makes the Canadian people, and Governor Justin Trudeau, be happy. He is the best Canadian of all and, therefore, I am making him a ‘free agent’, because I don’t want anyone in Canada to say something bad about him.
“He supports Canada as it is, as it should, although it is not as good as it could be as part of the world’s largest and most powerful country, the good United States!”

While talking with journalists in Mar-a-Lago last month, Trump said Gretzky “was not too interested” in becoming the “governor” of Canada, but “he would probably liked the status of state.”
Gretzky attended a victory match for Trump’s electoral victory in 2024 after Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris. Gretzky was seen with a magic hat shortly after and attended the inauguration of Trump.

The leader of points of all NHL times was appointed Honorary Captain of Canada for the final of the 4 nations against the Americans. Canadian and American fans booed the other’s national anthem during the tournament due to political tensions among countries.
