President Donald Trump joined Chelsea players on stage while celebrating the FIFA Club World Cup championship after a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Trump was with the players while delivered awards and medals in the field at the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. But at least a Chelsea star was perplexed by the president’s appearance during the celebration.

“I knew I was going to be here, but I didn’t know that I was going to be on the pod when we lifted the trophy, so it was a bit confused,” said Cole Pale de Chelsea after the game.
Palmer scored two goals and helped in another in the victory. He received the Golden Ball as the best player in the tournament.
Palmer was satisfied with his performance, since Paris Saint-Germain seemed to be the favorites in the final.
“It’s a great feeling. Even better because obviously everyone doubted us before the game,” he said. “The Gaffer took out a great game plan, and obviously, he knew where space was going to be.”

Trump was seen in a suite with his wife, the first lady Melania Trump, and the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and his wife Leena Al Ashqar. The president and Infantino have hardened their relationship in recent months while the United States prepares for the FIFA World Cup next year.
Trump and the FIFA executive have strengthened their relationship since he assumed the position. He established the White House Task Force for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, which will take place in North America. He called Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the Task Force.
It is expected to be one of the largest international sporting events, the host cities of the World Cup anticipate almost half a million visitors with a potential economic impact of up to $ 480 million that will benefit tourism, hospitality and retail industries.

The International Tournament, which covers North America, will begin in June 2026 and is the first World Cup in more than two decades in multiple countries. Most games will take place in the United States in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia and East Rutherford, New Jersey.
