Jamie Raskin, a high -ranking Democrat of the House of Representatives, joined the legislators who were looking for answers about President Donald Trump’s recent dinner for the main investors in his memecoin, sending questions directly to Trump.
Raskin, the Democrat of Classification in the Judicial Committee of the Chamber, has been a vocal critic of the president and becomes the last of many of his party to investigate the details about the event, which they have called as evidence of corruption of the White House. Because Raskin is in the minority party, it is unlikely that his demands lead to an additional action of the Congress unless they recover the camera or the Senate in the elections next year.
“I write today to demand that you publish the names of all attendees at this dinner and provide information about the money source they used to buy $ Trump coins, so that we can prevent the illegal emoluments of the foreign government from being bagged without consent of the Congress,” Raskin wrote this week to the President, joining many counterparts in the Senate in the search for the information, including Senators Elizabeth Warren, Chris Murphy and Richard.
“We deserve to know who is paying access to our president and what steps he took to ensure that the funds they receive are legitimate and legal, instead of the profits of foreign states or monarchs or illegal activities,” said Rasking, specifically highlighting the founder of Tron, Justin Sun, a guest who was an important early investor in the operations of Trump’s family cryptocurrencies.
