Washington: President Donald Trump has revealed a great defense project in a great defense project called Golden Dome Missile Defense Shield.
The project will cost $ 175 billion and is designed to protect the United States from missile attacks through the use of satellites in space. Trump says the system will help protect against the threats of countries such as China and Russia.
Trump announced Tuesday that he had selected a design for the missile defense shield and appointed a space force general to lead the effort to build the ambitious defense program aimed at blocking threats.
Trump announced at a White House press conference that the US Space Force General, Michael Guetlein, would be the main manager of the program for what the president said it would be a project of $ 175 billion, an effort widely seen as the Keystone for Trump’s military planning.
Golden Dome “will protect our homeland,” Trump said from the Oval office and added that Canada had said he wanted to be part of her.
Asked for the first time by Trump in January, Golden Dome aims to create a satellite network to detect, track and intercept incoming missiles. The shield could display hundreds of satellites for missile detection and monitoring.
At a cost of $ 175 billion, it will have been implemented for years, since the controversial program faces both political scrutiny and the uncertainty of financing.
Democratic legislators have expressed concern about the process of acquisition and participation of the Spacex of Trump Elon Musk ally, which has become a favorite along with Palantir and Anduril to build key system components.
The idea of Golden Dome was inspired by the Iron Dome Defense shield of Israel that protects her from missiles and rockets. Trump’s golden dome is much more extensive and includes a wide variety of surveillance satellites and a separate fleet of attack satellites that would tear off offensive missiles shortly after takeoff.
Tuesday’s announcement begins the pentagon effort to try and, ultimately, buy the missiles, systems, sensors and satellites that will make up the Golden Dome.
