Trump singles out PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Munir as ‘favorite’ for Gaza peace efforts

US President Donald Trump praised the efforts of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, among other world leaders, for their role in achieving the Gaza peace deal.

At a press conference following the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement in Sharm El Sheikh on Monday, Trump praised Prime Minister Shehbaz and the Army Chief of Staff, referring to him as “my favorite field marshal.” He later invited Shehbaz to share his views on the peace initiative.

Speaking to the press, Sharif said: “Today is one of the best days in contemporary history because peace was achieved after tireless efforts led by US President Donald Trump.”

He added: “President Trump is genuinely a man of peace who has worked tirelessly and tirelessly throughout these months, day after day, to make this world a place to live in peace and prosperity.”

“Pakistan had nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding and extraordinary contributions to stopping the war between Pakistan and India and later achieving a ceasefire,” he said.

Shehbaz further said, “Today again I would like to nominate this great President for the Nobel Peace Prize because I truly feel that he is the most genuine and wonderful candidate for the Peace Prize because he brought peace to South Asia, saving lives of millions of people.”

“Now, here in Sharm El Sheikh, he is bringing peace to Gaza and saving millions of lives in the Middle East,” he added.

The Prime Minister continued: “Mr. President, I would like to congratulate you on your exemplary and visionary leadership. I believe that you are the man the world needs most right now. The world will always remember you as a man who did everything possible and who did everything possible to stop eight wars.

“Suffice it to say that if he (President Trump) had not intervened along with his wonderful team, during those four days, the war could have escalated between India and Pakistan and who would have lived to tell what happened. Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers.”

Shehbaz added: “Similarly, here in this part of the world, in the Middle East, the contributions of President Trump and President Sisi of Egypt will be written in history with words of gold. May God bless them. May God give them a long life to serve well in all times to come.”

The prime minister also thanked the Emir of Qatar, the President of Turkiye, the King of Jordan, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and the leaders of the United Arab Emirates for working very hard and making valuable contributions to achieving peace in Gaza and the region.
