Washington: The president of the United States, Donald Trump, warned on Monday that Washington will impose tariffs to Russia within 10 days unless Moscow takes measures to finish his three -year war in Ukraine.

Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump said he had no news of Russian officials and said that time was running out.

He also ruled out concerns about oil prices, saying that the United States could increase its own production to compensate for any impact.

“I don’t know if it will affect Russia, because (Russian president Vladimir Putin) wants, obviously, to maintain war,” Trump said. “But we are going to put rates and the various things you put.”

The president of the United States, who in the past has spoken about having a good relationship with Putin, has been frustrated more and more with Moscow’s refusal to accept a high fire. The new deadline suggests that Trump is now ready to act according to his threat of sanctions, after doubting.

Speaking in Scotland on Monday, he threatened sanctions both to Russia and the countries that continue to buy their exports, also known as secondary sanctions, unless progress is made.

The United States Secretary of the United States, Scott Besent, told reporters that he had raised the issue of secondary sanctions with Chinese officials for two days of bilateral conversations this week.

He said he warned Chinese officials that Beijing could face steep tariffs if he continued to buy Russian oil.

In a publication about X, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, a close ally of Putin, said Trump was playing “a Ultimatums game” that could lead to a war that involves the United States.

Trump, who also faces pressure to ensure a peace agreement in Gaza, has promoted his role in resolving past conflicts between India and Pakistan, as well as Rwanda and Congo. Before returning to the White House in January, Trump had campaigned in a promise to end the Russian-Ukraine War in a single day.
