Washington: The president of the United States, Donald Trump, issued an executive order on Wednesday that imposed an additional 25% rate on India’s assets, saying that the country directly or indirectly imported the Russian oil, which adds to 25% of tariffs already announced.
In an executive order issued by the White House, the president of the United States said: “I find that the government of India is currently importing directly or indirectly the oil of the Russian Federation.
“Consequently, and so consisting of the applicable law, India articles imported to the customs territory of the United States will be subject to an additional AD VALEM duty of 25%.”
The president of the United States also said that he determined it “necessary and appropriate” to impose an additional AD VALEEM duty on imports of articles in India, since Russian oil directly or indirectly imported.
The order maintains exemptions for articles led by specific tasks of the separated sector, such as steel and aluminum, and categories that could be beaten as pharmaceutical products.
The measure threatens to further complicate relations between the United States and Indian and occurs shortly after an Indian government source said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit China for the first time in more than seven years later this month.
The ties between the United States and India face their most serious crisis in years after conversations with India could not produce a commercial agreement.
The White House movement, first indicated by Trump on Monday, follows the meetings of Trump Steve Witkoff’s best diplomat in Moscow with the aim of pushing Russia to accept peace in Ukraine.
Trump has threatened the highest tariffs on Russia and the sanctions secondary to his allies, if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not move to end the war in Ukraine.
