- The OnePlus 15T has been teased ahead of its full launch
- It is set to include a 7500 mAh ‘Glacier’ battery that uses silicon carbon technology
- I loved the battery on the 15R, and this one is even bigger.
When I review a phone I look at all its specifications equally, but for my own device I always look for one with a giant battery. I get charging anxiety and hate phones that run out of power quickly, so it looks like the next OnePlus phone will be within my reach.
The OnePlus 15T is an affordable upcoming version of the OnePlus 15, which we gave a perfect five-star review and ahead of the launch, the company has been confirming many of its specifications. Based on those stats, it looks like it will be a bit more premium than the 15’s other twist, the 15R.
Thanks to a Weibo post from OnePlus President Li Jie Louis, we now know that the OnePlus 15T will have 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, slim bezels, IP69K rating, a periscope zoom camera and, most importantly for me, a 7500mAh ‘Glacier’ battery. That’s more than double the capacity of the iPhone 17, if you’re wondering.
What we don’t know yet is exactly when the OnePlus 15T will be launched. But thanks to my past experience with the brand, I know it will appear on my wish list every time it appears.
Analysis: Why I’m interested in ’15
I spent about two months testing the OnePlus 15R and only switched to another phone because the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra was released and I needed to try it out.
The phone had a 7400 mAh battery, so the 15T’s will be even bigger, and the power pack was perhaps the biggest selling point of this Android.
During the testing process, when I used the phone an above-average amount, it easily lasted a day, even if I was testing its prowess in games or taking a lot of photos.
And after review time, when I used it as my regular phone, it reliably lasted two days on a single charge. I don’t think that’s ever happened to me on another phone, since it existed before 5G drained the battery.
In fact, I stopped getting into the habit of doing daily, or even regular, phone charging sessions. The OnePlus 15R runs at 80W, so I plugged it in for a few minutes every few days when I remembered to keep it running.
This turned out to be horrible when I started testing the Ultra, which doesn’t last long because I’d gotten used to multi-day battery life. I had gotten out of the habit of plugging in my phone regularly and had a few less than 10% scares before relearning that I can’t just plug in my phone once every few days and hope for the best.
I had to relearn how to use my phone for the Galaxy, so I’m looking forward to forgetting it again when the OnePlus 15T launches, probably very soon.
