- The details of CPU and RAM of the iPhone 17 have leaked
- Not all the rumors we have seen agree on these specifications
- The phones must be presented in September
We are likely to be just a couple of months after the launch of the iPhone 17, and now we have a new filtration that lists two of the key base specifications, although only one is configured to be an update of the iPhone 16.
According to the analyst Jeff Pu (through 9to5Mac), the standard iPhone 17 will obtain an update to a new A19 chip, along with the iPhone 17 Air. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will jump to the A19 Pro.
That is good news, because PU had previously predicted that the iPhone 17 of the base model would stay with the same A18 chip that is currently within the iPhone 16. It is a trick that Apple also removed in 2022 with the iPhone 14 series.
There is a case that modern iPhones are more than quick enough for most users for most tasks, and perhaps staying with an older chip would mean a price drop in iPhone 17, but it no longer seems that chip A18 will be reused.
While PU now believes that an update of the chipset will occur, he also reiterated that the standard iPhone 17 will have 8 GB of RAM, which coincides with the iPhone 16. All other models of the series apparently run up to 12 GB.
The previous rumors had suggested that the iPhone 17 would join the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in having more ram than its predecessors, but this last report seems to put significant doubts about it.
More RAM would mean more thinking space for Apple Intelligence, and it seems strange that the iPhone 17 is maintained with 8GB, while the iPhone 17 Air obtains 12 GB. However, nothing is official, until Apple announces these phones.
Apple’s reliable Tipster and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has predicted that the iPhone 17 series will receive its great presentation on Tuesday, September 9 or Wednesday, September 10, and of course we will keep it informed in more leaks and rumors before that.
