Two separate road accidents leave 18 dead and 37 injured in Punjab, Sindh

At least 18 people were killed and 37 injured in two separate road accidents on Monday, including a bus overturning incident near Fateh Jang in Punjab and a collision between a wedding van and a fishing boat at Naushahro Feroze in Sindh.

Eleven people, including six women and five men, died after a bus met with an accident and overturned on the M-14 highway near Fateh Jang.

Rescue officials told the media that the number of injured in the accident has risen to 22, adding that the victims were from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Sharaqpur and Islamabad, rescue officials added.

Additionally, rescue officials said six people, including three women, were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, while one injured person was shifted to Islamabad and District Central Hospital each.

Meanwhile, a highway police spokesperson said that the bus traveling from Bahawalpur to Islamabad met with a fatal accident due to the driver’s negligence.

Highway Police Inspector General Riffat Mukhtar ordered an immediate investigation into the bus accident.

Directing the provision of best medical facilities to the injured, the IG expressed his solidarity and condolences to the bereaved families.

Road accidents are not uncommon in Pakistan and occur frequently due to various reasons including driver negligence, poor roads and weather conditions, etc.

In another road accident today, a joyful wedding celebration turned into a tragic nightmare: a collision between a wedding van and a fishing boat claimed seven lives on the spot and injured 15 others in Naushahro Feroze district.

The terrifying accident took place near the Moro Qaumi Char Meal area in Kindyaro early Monday morning.

police sources said Geographic news that the bodies of the victims and the injured were taken to a local hospital, while eight seriously injured passengers were taken to Nawabshah.

Sources added that all the victims belonged to the Tagar tribe and were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sadness over the loss of lives due to a collision between a trawler and a van at Naushahro Feroze, and the deaths due to overturning of a bus near Attock-Fateh junction Jang.

He offered his deepest condolences and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and directed the authorities concerned to provide best medical treatment facilities to the injured.
