Karachi:
A man was arrested for allegedly raping his 18 -year -old niece after drugs and six other family members, including children, serving a sedative drink in a family reunion on Friday night.
According to the police, the incident took place after the suspect, identified as Amir Shaikh, visited his sister’s house and offered family drinks and sweets, which left them unconscious. The family members were transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters, where doctors confirmed that Sakina, 18, had been sexually assaulted while she was unconscious.
The victim’s mother filed a complaint, accusing her brother Amir of committing the crime. The FIR states that Amir tried to present himself as an assistant once the family regained consciousness.
The police arrested the defendant, who confessed during the interrogation. The authorities are also investigating the source of the sedative used. The sources indicate that the defendant had married four months ago, but his wife left him shortly after due to marriage disputes.
