The United Kingdom has announced plans to deepen and strengthen ties with the EU, especially with regard to research and innovation projects around technology.
The news will see the United Kingdom launch an advertising campaign at the national level and a series of Roadshows hoping to attract researchers to join the EU avant -garde research program, Horizon Europe.
Horizon Europe, which is the largest research collaboration program in the world, has a budget of almost 100 billion euros. The program has five missions; Adaptation to climate change, cancer research, oceans and waters, the construction of neutral and intelligent climatic cities, and restoring and protecting soil health.
An innovation power
The United Kingdom is not the only nation that is not from EU that participates in Horizon Europe, with other associations, including South Korea, New Zealand and Norway.
To further boost collaboration, the United Kingdom will also join four European Research Infrastructure Consortiums (ERICs). These will bring together the brightest minds on the continent, to foster ‘depth and high quality links’.
By participating in these research programs, the United Kingdom will not only benefit from the findings of research projects through the development of climate friendly practices and protections, but also to forge collaborative relationships with the main researchers around the world.
