United Nations: The United Nations restored an embargo on weapons and other sanctions against Iran on Saturday after a process triggered by key European powers that Tehran warned that he will find a hard response.

Great Britain, France and Germany triggered the return of sanctions against Iran in the UN Security Council for accusations that the country has violated a 2015 agreement that aimed to prevent a nuclear bomb from developing. Iran denies the search for nuclear weapons.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged the UN Secretary General on Sunday to avoid resurgence of the mechanisms to implement UN sanctions after they were reimposed in Tehran.

“We urge you to avoid any attempt to relive the sanctions mechanisms, including the sanctions committee and the expert panel,” Araqchi wrote in a letter published in X, and added that Tehran will not recognize any attempt to extend, revive or enforce the sanctions of the UN.

The end of the nuclear agreement of a decade originally agreed by Iran, Great Britain, Germany, France, the United States, Russia and China will probably exacerbate tensions in the Middle East, a few months after Israel and the United States bombarded Iranian nuclear sites.

The UN sanctions imposed by the Security Council in resolutions adopted between 2006 and 2010 were reinstated at 8 PM EDT Saturday (0000 GMT). The attempts to delay the return of all the sanctions against Iran failed outside the annual meeting of world leaders at the UN this week.

“We urge Iran and all states to remain completely for these resolutions,” said the foreign ministers of France, Great Britain and Germany in a joint statement after the deadline passed.

Tehran has warned about a tough answer. But Iranian President Masoud Peeshkian said Friday that Iran had no intention of leaving the non -proliferation treaty. Iran said on Saturday that he remembered his ambassadors to Britain, France and Germany for consultations.

Russia has played the return of UN sanctions against Iran.

“It is illegal, and it cannot be implemented,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, told reporters at the UN earlier on Saturday, adding that he had written to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, warning that it would be “an important mistake” for him to recognize a return of UN sanctions against Iran.

The UN Security Council website was quickly updated on Saturday night to reflect the return to sanctions.

Diplomacy is still an option

The European powers had offered to delay the restitution of sanctions for up to six months to allow space for conversations on a long -term agreement if they will restored access for UN nuclear inspectors, approached concerns about their enriched uranium stock and participated in conversations with the United States.

“Our countries will continue to chase diplomatic routes and negotiations. The reimposition of UN sanctions is not the end of diplomacy,” said the ministers of Great Britain, France and Germany. “We urge you to abstain from any staggered action and return to fulfilling its legally binding obligations of safeguards.”

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been clear that diplomacy remains an option for Iran and an agreement remains the best result for the Iranian people and the world, said the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, in a statement after the UN sanctions were imposed again.

“For that to happen, Iran must accept direct conversations, held in good faith, without stopping or obfuscation,” he said, emphasizing that until there was a new agreement, it was important for countries to implement sanctions “immediately to press Iran’s leaders to do the right thing for their nation, and better for the security of the world.”

Iran’s economy is already struggling to paralyze the American sanctions reimputed since 2018 after Trump left the pact during his first mandate.

Iran’s rial currency continued to decrease due to the fears of new sanctions. The Rial fell to 1,123,000 per US dollar, a new minimum record, on Saturday, of approximately 1,085,000 on Friday, according to currency websites, including Bon-bast.com.

With the return of the UN sanctions, Iran will be submitted to an embargo on weapons and a prohibition of all uranium and reprocessing enrichment activities and any activity related to ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including throws.

Other sanctions that reprived include a prohibition of traveling in dozens of Iranian people, a freezing of assets in dozens of people and Iranian entities and a prohibition of the supply of anything that can be used in the Iran nuclear program.

All countries are authorized to confiscate and get rid of any prohibited article under the UN sanctions and Iran will be prohibited from acquiring interest in any commercial activity in another country that involves mining, production or use of nuclear materials and technology.
