The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global Igra) for Pakistan has officially reached its end after 15 years, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) confirmed on Tuesday.
The exchange initiative of a semester, which allowed Pakistani undergraduate students to study at a American university or university for a semester without a degree, was administered by the USEFP and financed by the United States government.
In a statement, the Foundation announced: “We regret to inform him that after 15 incredible years, the global undergraduate exchange program for Pakistan has come to an end. The informed USEFP of the US State Department.
The USEFP described that the program had offered “experiences that change their lives” to thousands of students in their career, facilitating academic enrichment, cultural exchange and leadership development.
Run in 2010, the program was aimed at cultivating a spirit of service and leadership among young Pakistani while improving their commitment within their communities.
In his farewell message, USEFP expressed pride in the transforming role that the exchange had played.
“While this chapter is closing, we encourage it to explore other opportunities for exchange and scholarships that can align with their aspirations,” he said.
