The Big 12 tournament began this week in female university basketball, and it was the court itself that has been a topic of conversation between fans.
The court design is far from being traditional. The “XII” logo of Big 12 not only appears in Center Court. It appears throughout the court.
The “XII” logo in the lanes of the court was designed as a lighter gray superimposed on the rest of the court, which is a slightly darker gray. The gray-on-gray look has generated mixed criticisms of online fans.

“I am seeing the #UCF female basketball team in the Torney Big 12. Am I the only one who thinks the court is terrible? It looks like one of those optical illusion paintings that they sold in Spencer’s gifts,” wrote Matt Murschel de Orlando Sentinel in X.
“Trying to decide whether this court design in the Big 12 tournament will grow in me during the next two weeks or is ugly,” another user published.
A fan even compared the court with a thread of DNA.

“The entire court that looks like a DNA thread is exaggerating. There was nothing wrong on the Big 12 tournament court in previous seasons,” said the post.
However, not all reviews were negative.
“I have bad news for the Big 12 Court Haters. The court in person is actually a fire!”
