“We are committed to providing $2 billion worth of world-class U.S. mining equipment and services to support the construction and management of the Reko Diq mine for years to come,” Baker said. He said the project will generate approximately 6,000 jobs in the United States and 7,500 in Balochistan, which will greatly benefit both economies.
“This project will serve as a model for mining, creating employment opportunities for US exporters, as well as local communities and partners in Pakistan, benefiting both countries,” he added.
Baker noted that the Trump administration had made similar agreements a central part of US diplomacy and expressed commitment to future agreements between US companies and Pakistan in the mining sector.
The Reko Diq project is considered a key initiative to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and the United States, particularly in the mining and minerals sectors.
Meanwhile, Baker also met Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday. The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United States, with discussions covering a wide range of mutual interests.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar highlighted the importance of close relations between Pakistan and the United States, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation on various fronts.
The two leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, with an emphasis on fostering stability and collaboration in areas of shared concern.
