American figure skater Amber Glenn responded to criticism Tuesday following her gold medal victory in the team event at the Winter Olympics.

Glenn, who said she was taking a break from social media due to “hate” comments after criticizing President Donald Trump’s administration, returned to TikTok with photos of herself and Alysa Liu. She directed her title at those who apparently came after her.

“They hate to see two woke bitches winning,” Glenn wrote. “If ‘Woke’ means people who use their platforms to advocate for marginalized communities in the country they actively represent… Then yeah, sure?”

Glenn criticized the Trump administration at a pre-Olympic press conference last week, saying it had been a “difficult time” for her and members of the LGBT community. It was one of the few political comments American athletes made in the run-up to the Winter Games.

“It’s been a difficult time for the (LGBTQ) community at large in this administration,” he said via USA Today. “It’s not the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and try to fight for our human rights. And now especially, it’s not only affecting the queer community, but a lot of other communities, and I think we can support each other in a way that we didn’t have before, and because of that, it has made us much stronger.”

Glenn added that the topic he was talking about was something he was not going to remain silent about.

The online reaction was enough for her to go offline for a few days.

“When I chose to use one of the amazing things about the United States of America (freedom of speech) to convey how I feel as an athlete competing for Team USA in a troubling time for many Americans, I now receive a terrifying amount of hate and threats for simply using my voice WHEN ASKED how I feel,” he wrote in a now-expired post on his Instagram Stories.

“I anticipated this, but I am disappointed. I will limit my time on social media for my own well-being for now, but I will never stop using my voice for what I believe.”
