Mcilroy registered a striker of the nine 33, knowing his seconds and third holes while shooting at the rest. However, the background nine was where things began to fall from the rails, and Oakmont’s rough infamous played an important role in that.
His first bogey of the day arrived in Hoyo 1 (Mcilroy began his round in hole 10), and things could have been very worse in Hole 4 when his trip in the 5 torque shot to the right and landed in a horrible and tall grass.
The ball was not visible at all, since Mcilroy did it, and the result was that it landed just a few meters in front of him. Then, with one foot in a street bunker, Mcilroy turned again but was in vain. The ball landed a few feet to the right this time.

Mcilroy was entering his fourth shot in a hole that could have derailed all his round. But he was able to get the ball on the street right in front of Green with the opportunity to at least climb and go down to save Bogey.
That is exactly what he did, needing a 30 -foot putt to fall into the hole and got it. Mcilroy was waiting for all the mishaps to face, but they approached more.
Holes Nos. 6-8 saw Bogey, Bogey and Double Bogey respectively, since Mcilroy could not find any consistency in his swing. His putts’ blow either helped, missing short putts that could have passed to the pair.

In his second hole, the Mcilroy t-shirt blow in the 289 Yardas PAR-3 was deeply in the rough behind the Green, and released a frustrating blow when his launch shot once again put himself only a few meters in front of him.
Mcilroy finished his 4-Over round (74), which places him tied in 64th in the United States classification table.
Mcilroy was not the only one who was dealing with the harsh conditions in Oakmont, since one of his best friends, Shane Lowry, was really happening in his 9 and 79 on Thursday. He was even seen throwing a microphone around the green after a thick chip shot.
The best players like Justin Rose (7-Over), Patrick Cantlay (6-over), Matthew Fitzpatrick (4-over) and Wyndham Clark (4-over) were also among those who fight on Thursday.
