Venus Williams has retreated the clock on Queens, but his Cinderella career in the US Open this year is over.
The 45-year-old was associated with Leylah Fernández for doubles support and reached the quarterfinals before Taylor Towsend and Kateřina Siniaková took them 6-1, 6-2.
When the game ended after 56 minutes at the Louis Armstrong stadium, Williams smiled as he walked to the network to strengthen Siniaková’s hand, then hugged Towsend. Thousands of spectators got up to give Williams a standing ovation; Towsend and Siniaková joined, applauding Williams.

Siniaková called Williams “a legend” and said it was “a privilege” play against her.
Williams, 45, previously left in the first round of both singles, withdrawing against Karolína Muchvá in three sets, and mixed doubles. He was out of competition for 16 months until he returned to play in a tournament in Washington in July. His most recent important tournament was the United States Open 2023.
Williams and Fernández, a 22 -year -old from Canada who was the 2021 runner -up in New York, received an entry of the wildlife association of the United States and had not lost a set in his first three games of his debut as a team.

Towsend, who currently occupies the number 1 in doubles, and Siniaková is an experienced duo that Wimbledon won in 2024 and the Australian open this year together. Siniaková has won a total of 10 Grand Slam titles in female doubles.
Towsend found himself in a controversy in the singles group when Jelena Ostopenko said she was upset to Towsend did not apologize after being helped by a net cord for a point. It also took into account Towsend heating before the game on the network, instead of in the baseline. After their party, the two entered a heated discussion.
Williams, of course, is the owner of 14 Grand Slam titles in female doubles along with his sister, Serena, who left the professional tour in 2022.
Williams’ older brother has also won seven important individual championships and two others in mixed doubles.
