USEFP clarifies the global Ugrar termination concerns

Islamabad:

In the light of recent media reports and public concern about the interruption of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global Ugragra) in Pakistan, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has issued an official statement to clarify the situation and reaffirm its continuous commitment to educational cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.

According to Usefp, while the Global Ugragra program is experiencing changes, the United States is still committed to strengthening the ties of people with Pakistan through continuous academic exchanges.

The organization emphasized that the United States currently houses approximately 11,000 Pakistani students and continues to welcome more applicants who seek opportunities for higher education in US institutions.

When addressing concerns about the destiny of the current global participants of Ugra, USEFP confirmed that all 54 Pakistani students currently studying in the United States under the program will complete their academic exchanges as programmed. “They have and continue to receive their stipend and all the benefits associated with the program,” the statement said.

The Foundation also dismissed rumors about the termination of the prestigious Fulbright program, clarifying that it is still completely operational and that all Fulbright participants are receiving their financial support as planned. “The statements that the Fulbright program has been completed or that students will be stranded in the United States are false,” said USEFP.

The United States Department of State is currently making a strategic global review of its exchange programs to align them better with current administrative priorities. USEFP promised to keep the public informed as new details arise about the future of these initiatives.

Despite recent developments, several exchange opportunities financed by the United States government, including the Fulbright program, remain available for Pakistani students and professionals.
