The United States has issued a new travel notice for Pakistan, urging US citizens to reconsider trips to the country due to continuous security risks, including terrorism and potential for armed conflicts.
In a statement, the United States Department of State warned that violent extremist groups continue to plan attacks, particularly in the provinces of Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The notice emphasized that terrorists can attack with little or no warning, aimed at several places, such as transport centers, shopping centers, military facilities, airports, universities and places of worship.
The notice also declared that the United States government staff assigned to Pakistan is prohibited from attending most of the great meetings due to the greatest risks.
Although he pointed out that the main cities such as Islamabad have a stronger security infrastructure, the notice warned that Pakistan’s security situation remains fluid, with conditions that potentially change rapidly.
The warning occurs in the midst of ongoing discussions in the United States on possible travel restrictions.
The sources revealed to Reuters that a new prohibition of travel under review by the Trump administration could soon prevent Pakistan and Afghanistan from entering the United States. This follows a broader evaluation of the security and research procedures of the countries.
In addition, around 200,000 Afghan, approved for the resettlement of the USA or with pending visa applications, face uncertainty. Many are stranded in Pakistan, together with refugees from another 90 countries, after the order of January 20 of President Trump institutes a 90 -day freezing about refugee admissions and foreign aid that finance their transport.
