- Valve has revealed the winners of the Steam Awards 2025
- Hollow Knight: Silk Song It was the only game that won more than one category
- Dark Glade: Expedition 33 won the award for Best Soundtrack: it is the only award
Valve has announced the winners of the Steam Awards 2025 and, unlike The Game Awards 2025, Dark Glade: Expedition 33 It did not sweep almost all categories.
The Steam Awards, held annually since 2016, are decided almost entirely by users of the popular PC gaming platform Steam. Each year, Valve offers a selection of categories and gives you a few weeks to nominate selections.
You’ll then be able to vote on a selection of the most popular options, with the winners decided by adding up the votes to find out which game received the most.
This year, the categories and winners are the following:
- Game of the year: Hollow Knight: Silk Song
- VR Game of the Year: The midnight walk
- Labor of Love (celebrating older games that are still being updated): Baldur’s Gate 3
- Best game on Steam Deck: hell 2
- Better With Friends (for the best co-op experiences): Top
- Outstanding visual style: silent hill
- Most innovative gameplay: Arch Raiders
- The best game you suck at: Hollow Knight: Silk Song
- Award for best soundtrack: Dark Glade: Expedition 33
- Excellent game with a lot of history: Dispatch
- Sit Back and Relax (a prize for relaxing experiences): Has RV arrived yet?
A complete selection?
No Game of the Year list is going to be perfect (except TechRadar Gaming’s Game of the Year picks, of course!), but overall it seems like a pretty decent selection.
Personally I’m quite surprised Dark Glade: Expedition 33 It didn’t win in more than one category, given its enormous popularity, but after taking home so much praise at The Game Awards, that may not be so bad.
The inclusion of some smaller games like The midnight walk and Has RV arrived yet? It’s also great to see and should hopefully drive some sales to your hardworking developers.
