The hacker tried to sell the database for $ 5,000, which is a strangely low sum for such a large amount of data.
It had been suggested that Twilio could have been the Hack source, and the company provides unique access code services, but Twilio denied that it would have been raped. And now, Steam itself has confirmed that it was not pirated either.
In a news post on its website, Steam declared that “we have examined the leak sample and we have determined that this was not a rape of steam systems.” In addition, Steam added that “the leaked data did not associate the phone numbers with a Steam account, password information, payment information or other personal data.”
