Police launched an investigation after the Vandals pointed to murals from the baseball legends Jackie Robinson and Minnie Miñoso.
The paintings, located along a fence in the Miami Park, are part of a collection of works of art in honor of multiple legendary baseball stars.
The black league teams once played games in the historic park.
The prominent members of the community held a press conference and said that vandalism was initially discovered by a 7 -year -old child. The brands that remained in the murals were identified as Nazi symbols, speakers said at the press conference.

Since then, plywood has been placed on the murals of Robinson and Miñoso.
“I know that you can not show it on television, but we need the community to discover the pain and hatred that exists,” said Terrance CribBs-Lorrant, executive director of the city of Miami Black Police Precinct. “The reason why this is still perpetuated is because we continue to cover it.”

“We must deal with this for what it is: a hate crime destined to instill fear and division. But we will not be intimidated. We will respond with unity, resistance and an unwavering commitment to the truth, justice and preservation of our history,” he said.
Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball in 1947 when he became the first black player, signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Miños became the first Latin player of the MLB and the first black player for the Chicago White Sox.
The murals have been exhibited in the park since 2011.
