Vawda predicts Imran’s conviction in corruption case

KARACHI:

Senator Faisal Vawda has predicted that former Prime Minister Imran Khan will be convicted in the £190m case, the sentencing of which is due today.

Vawda, who was once considered a close aide of Imran and was a member of his cabinet, was addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club.

According to the senator, he had warned the former prime minister that the cabinet’s decision to allocate the £190 million received from a UK agency was going to cause him problems.

“A crime must be punished and will be punished,” he said. [Imran Khan] was forced to commit that crime,” he added.

The disgruntled PTI leader also commented on the ongoing talks between the government and the PTI, calling it a game of “hide and seek”.

He criticized the opposition party for now calling for negotiations after having adopted an aggressive stance towards the government. The senator welcomed the PTI’s decision to hold talks with the government, but also urged it to enter the dialogue with good intentions.

He advised PTI supporters not to make too much of Donald Trump’s return to the White House on January 20, claiming that the winds are blowing in favor of the country, not the PTI.

Vawda reiterated his claims that Imran Khan’s life was in danger and that the danger came from some people very close to him.
