Venus Williams smiled after his first -round victory in the Open DC Tuesday.
The 45 -year -old man tennis Star made an unexpected return to the tennis court this week, 16 months after his last professional competence. With a dominant victory over Peyton Stearns American, he became the oldest woman from Martina Navratilova to win a single party.

“It’s not easy to get out after all that time and play the perfect game and all WTA players are playing incredible, Peyton played so well. I felt that I was trying to stop me, we were going faster, faster and faster,” Williams said after the 6-3 victory, 6-4.
“It’s just about putting everything together. You can still play a good game and lose the game. I wanted to play a good game and win the game. It is very rewarding to return after dismissal and injuries, and you know, I didn’t have to play again.”

He advanced to the second round, where he will face seed No. 5 Magdalena Frech on Thursday. His second round double match is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
