- Victoria’s Secret has confirmed the suffering of a cyber attack
- Company’s website and some systems disconnected after the incident
- No one claimed responsibility yet, but customers must still be on alert
The American lingerie and beauty retailer Victoria’s Secret has suffered a cyber attack that forced the company to close its websites and “some services in the store.”
In a brief announcement published on the company’s main website (as well as national websites), it was said that a “security incident” was identified, and “as a precaution”, the website and some services in the store were removed.
“We appreciate your patience during this process. Meanwhile, our Victoria’s Secret and Pink stores remain open and we hope to serve you,” reads the announcement.
Was it ransomware?
Until now, the specific details about the incident remain scarce, since the company did not detail the nature of the attack, the identity of the attackers or the methods used to compromise the systems.
A Victoria’s Secret spokesman said Fox business The company triggered its incident response protocols after the incident.
“Third parties are committed, and we remove our website and some in store services as a precaution,” reads the statement. “We are working to restore operations quickly and safely.”
In general, when a company is forced to close its network, whether partially or completely, it is to contain a ransomware attack and prevent threat actors from moving laterally and exfott the client’s confidential data.
Since there are no threat actors that the actors are still assumed by the attack, this is pure speculation at this time. We know that the company’s systems have been offline for at least three days, at the time of publication.
Victoria’s Secret is a global retailer lingerie and beauty, so it is not surprising that it is a goal. As of February 1, 2025, the company had 31,000 employees in total, including 13,000 full -time employees and 18,000 part -time, according to the analysis of shares.
It has more than 1,300 stores worldwide and in 2024, it reported annual income of $ 6.23 billion.
