The 2024-25 campaign of the Philadelphia 76ers was disappointing. The Star Center Season Joel Embiid was plagued by injuries, and the team ended with a 24-58 record, the third brand at the Eastern Conference.
The Sixers maintained the third general selection in the NBA Draft of 2025.
Cooper Flagg was the first prospect to leave Draft Board, followed by the former highlight of the Rutgers, Dylan Harper. Philly then selected VJ Edgecombe at number 3.

While the 19 -year -old game could be well combined with the back track of the Sixers, Edgecombe had to overcome numerous obstacles outside the court long before hearing his name on the night of the draft.
Shortly after he crossed the stage inside the Barclays center in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, Edgecombe was asked about his mother’s emotional state while seeing that his son’s dreams of his son’s NBA came to fruition.

“Long nights … I lived a generator for seven years. I had no electricity. I lived a generator for seven years,” said Baylor’s former basketball star on some of the memories that stayed with him since childhood.

“To see what I had to go just to feed us? Crazy,” Edgecombe added as he defended tears.
While Flagg was seen as the main consensus prospect that entered this year’s draft, the selection of the Sixers in No. 3 was not so clear.
Edgecombe admitted that he was not completely sure that he would hear his name called once the Sixers were on the clock.

“No, I had no idea what was happening,” he said. “I thought: ‘I am only living at the time until they tell me that I am there’ when I was at the table, as 15 seconds before I was written, before the commissioner called my name. They didn’t tell me anything. I was still in the air about what was happening.”
Edgecombe averaged 15 points, 3.2 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game last season in Baylor.
