Vladimir Guerrero Jr of the Blue Jays JR, will arrive at the free agency at the end of 2025

The Toronto Blue Jays and the first base of the star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did not agree with a long -term contract extension on Monday.

Guerrero, 25, established a deadline on Monday night so that the two parties reach an agreement on an agreement, since the first base of the stars does not plan to negotiate an agreement during the season.

Guerrero said the agreement was not made due to lack of effort.

“The last two days, the main office, my lawyers, my agents, met, both (the sides) tried, but obviously we could not reach an agreement,” Guerrero said through an interpreter in the Blue Jays the Camp Tuesday.

“We never reached the point where I felt I wanted to make the deal.”

The General Manager of the Blue Jays, Ross Atkins, said that although no agreement has been completed, the team still wants Guerrero to return.

“We work very hard and the motivation is still there,” Atkins said.

“I am sure that every thought, idea we had, every dollar we had, was communicated. But obviously we are disappointed not to have done that … does not change our desire. We will certainly be motivated and remains motivated.”

Guerrero comes from a star season, when he hit .323 with 30 homers and 103 races promoted in 159 games.

If the four times All Star repeats those numbers this season, you are prepared to be the main free agent of this year’s class.

If the Blue Jays fight at the beginning of the season, the team could seek to exchange Guerrero on the exchange deadline to recover some assets instead of losing it for nothing in free agency.

With his young age and his strong production, Guerrero will order a great payment day in the free agency.
